Role Overview

A student success receptionist serves as the first point of contact for students, faculty, and visitors at the PAAC and the Center for Student Success (Advising and Peer Mentoring). They provide excellent customer service, manage appointments, offer general information, and maintain a welcoming and efficient environment. 

Deliver Exceptional Customer Service

  • Greet students and visitors warmly, creating an inclusive and welcoming atmosphere. 
  • Actively listen to student concerns and direct them to appropriate resources. 
  • Maintain a student-centered approach, ensuring all visitors feel supported. 
Efficient Appointment & Scheduling Management
  • Manage the scheduling of advising (Starfish) and peer mentoring (Tutor Trac) sessions through online systems or phone/email. 
  • Ensure advisors and mentors have up-to-date schedules and minimize appointment conflicts. 
  • Communicate appointment confirmations, reminders, and follow-ups. 
Provide Accurate Information & Resource Referrals
  • Answer questions regarding advising, peer mentoring, academic support programs, and university policies. 
  • Refer students to appropriate departments or campus resources (e.g., financial aid, career services). 
  • Keep informational materials up to date and accessible. 
Ensure a Well-Organized and Professional Work Environment
  • Maintain front desk organization, ensuring a clean and inviting reception area. 
  • Oversee office supplies, technology, and workspace functionality. 
  • Support the team with administrative tasks as needed. 
Maintain Confidentiality & Professionalism
  • Uphold FERPA and university privacy policies when handling student records and inquiries. 
  • Demonstrate professionalism in all interactions, both in-person and virtual.
