KINGSVILLE (March 29, 2022) — The Opera and Musical Theatre Workshop at Texas A&M University-Kingsville will present The Addams Family Quarantined Concert Version Friday, April 29, and Sunday, May 1, in Jones Auditorium. Friday’s performance will begin at 7:30 p.m. while Sunday’s is a matinee at 3 p.m.

“This is an adapted version of The Addams Family Musical which was rewritten in order to negotiate the times we are living in,” said Dr. Melinda Brou, stage director, producer and professor of voice and opera in the School of Music. “The show has been shortened to run in one act and it is about 85 minutes long. Approximately 45 minutes of dialogue have been cut from the original production.

“Even though the show is shorter it will still be staged with dancing, full costumes and a set designed to allow for the actors to keep distanced. There is even a narrator enforcing no touching between characters. We also will have a live pit orchestra featuring some of the university’s finest student and faculty instrumentalists,” Brou added.

Tickets for The Addams Family Quarantined Concert Version will be available in the auditorium lobby one hour before the show or they may be purchased from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday beginning Monday, April 4, at the School of Music main office, 775 N. Armstrong St. Tickets may be purchased with cash or checks only. Tickets are $5 for university students and children under 18 and $10 for adults. For more information, please call 361-593-4360.
