Texas A&M University-Kingsville Jazz Bash set for Nov. 26

The Jones Auditorium will be filled with music on Tuesday, Nov. 26, as the Texas A&M University-Kingsville Music Department Jazz bands will perform their 36th annual fall concert extravaganza.

Many of the A&M-Kingsville jazz groups will be featured including Jazz Bands I, II, and III and the Latin Jazz Ensemble. The performance will begin at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 26, in the Jones Auditorium. The concert is free and open to the public.

The concert will feature the Latin Jazz Ensemble directed by Glynn Garcia, Jazz Band III directed by Edward Moncada, Jazz Band II directed by Dr. Kyle Millsap and Jazz Band I directed by Dr. Paul Hageman.

To kick off the holiday season, the Jazz Bash occurs each year on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving.

“This concert will be fun, exciting, relaxing, and will showcase the many talented students within our internationally award-winning jazz program,” said Hageman, chair of the music department.

The music performed will display a wide variety of jazz styles including swing, ballad, rock, Latin, fusion, mixed-meter and eclectic. Some of the musical pieces to be performed include Air Paddle, La Nina Nueva, Big Al Meets the Barnyard Gals, Minuano 6/8, Perdido, Chiapas, Bang That Wall, Harvey!, Rippin’ ‘n Runnin’, Yo No Fui, Quizas, Quizas, Quizas, Qui Lio, and Ran Kan Kan.
