Posted on

The Kingsville Symphony Orchestra will open its 14th season with a concert set for Sunday, Oct. 6.

Music of the World, featuring Dr. Sarah Wildey-Richmond on bassoon, will begin at 3 p.m. in the Jones Auditorium.

The concert will include works by Nikolay Rimsky-Korsakov, Miguel del Aguila, Aaron Copland and Modest Mussorgsky.

The ensemble is comprised of students from the Music Department at Texas A&M University-Kingsville and professional players from around South Texas.

The orchestra was formed in 2006 when community and university members came together with a vision of bringing orchestral concerts to the Kingsville and the surrounding areas, according to the group’s website.

Ticket prices range from $10 to $30. Season tickets are also available for purchase on the orchestra’s website.

Children 12 and under accompanied by an adult may attend free. All TAMUK students are admitted free with a valid ID. Active military discount tickets are sold pre-concert in the lobby.
