Counseling and Guidance

Message from the Program Coordinator

Welcome to the graduate program in Counseling and Guidance!

We have a dynamic and growing program where students are provided with a fertile environment for growth and development as a counselor and a supportive faculty to help you reach your goals.  Our program has two degree plans for potential counselors.

The program has coursework that allows students to prepare to become both Certified School Counselors (with a 48 hour degree, 2 years teaching experience, and the TeXes exam), and Licensed Professional Counselors (with a 60 hour degree and the NBCC exam).  All core faculty within the program have LPC licenses and three are LPC supervisors.  The program offers a number of online and hybrid courses. It is also possible to complete the LPC and School Counselor requirements at the same time.  We have an active chapter of Chi Sigma Iota Counseling Academic and Professional Honor Society.  The program is in the process of preparing our self-study for CACREP accreditation.
