Dr. Roger Hanagriff


Associate Professor, Agricultural Business and Agricultural Education

Dr. Roger Hanagriff joined Texas A&M University Kingsville in January 2018 and was previously an Instructional Associate Professor at Texas A&M University (2012-2017), Associate Professor at Texas A&M University Kingsville (2009-2012) and Associate Professor at Sam Houston State University (1998 to 2009).  He has been an invited speaker for over 300 events for state agricultural education associations, Texas Travel Industry Association's Texas Tourism College, research associations and numerous other invited opportunities.  He also has worked with The Winrock association in their Farmer to Farmer program in Guinea Africa to develop strategic agricultural business initiatives for public universities focusing on agricultural education.

Roger has produced over 30 peer reviewed journal articles and worked on grant funding exceeding $1 million in direct and over $6 million on collaborative project funding. His projects have involved calculating economic valuations of Texas Department of Agriculture's marketing programs, developing a experiential learning program for underrepresented populations through a USDA program, various educational projects for Texas Education Agency and economic impact values of local tourism events.  

As a faculty member at TAMUK, Roger's research focus will be economic and programmatic values of agricultural organizations, innovative online instructional strategies and international agricultural development with a focus on entrepreneurship. Roger teachers courses in agricultural marketing, finance, farm management, business management and entrepreneurship.  Roger also involved in various research organizations such as American Association of Agricultural Educators (AAAE), Southern Association of Agricultural Economist, International Business and Economics Association, American Association of Wine Economist (AAWE) and currently serves as the treasurer for the Association for Agricultural and Extension Education (AIAEE).  Outside of the University, Roger is a co-developer of The Agricultural Experiences Tracker, which is a farm management type system developed for students to track their student projects, FFA involvement and create personal professional portfolio to use in post-secondary education opportunities.  Roger's family includes his wife Gena and sons Boyd and Samuel, which are all compete in rodeo events and assist on the families livestock operation.
