Merit Scholarships

Merit scholarships are awarded to entering freshman and transfer students who have excelled academically. Admitted students are automatically considered for these scholarships based on their application for admission. These scholarships may be renewed and will follow the fall and spring term disbursement cycle. If you are a non-resident awarded a merit scholarship, you will qualify for in-state tuition.

Freshman Merit Scholarships

Texas A&M University-Kingsville offers a variety of merit scholarships to freshman entering in the fall who have excelled academically. Scholarship award amounts range from $1000 - $8000 and may be renewable. Determination of awards is based on the highest composite score on national or residual tests, the highest overall composite GPA and rank in class. Students are automatically considered for these scholarships based on their application for admission, once they are admitted to Texas A&M University-Kingsville . The priority admission date for merit scholarship awards is November 15. After the priority date, funding is not guaranteed. 

Javelina Meritorious Scholarship Guaranteed to National Merit Finalists who name Texas A&M University-Kingsville as their first choice institution in accordance with the rules and deadlines established by the National Merit Corporation. This award may be granted for up to four years. Student must maintain a 3.0 GPA and be enrolled full-time.

Scholarship
Presidential Scholars tend to have a minimum test score of: 31 ACT or 1420 SAT 
Student must maintain a 3.0 GPA and be enrolled full-time
Provost Scholarship Provost Scholars tend to have test scores between: 27-30 ACT or 1280-1420 SAT
Student must maintain a 3.0 GPA and be enrolled full-time.
Dean's Scholarship Dean's Scholars tend to have test scores between: 23-26 ACT or 1130-1270 SAT
Student must maintain a 3.0 GPA and be enrolled full-time.
Academic Excellence Award 20 ACT or 1020 SAT (or greater)
Top 10% class rank from an accredited Texas high school.
Javelina GOLDS Awarded to incoming freshmen who are first-generation college students. Apply online through Javelina Scholarships. Complete the essay requirements listed under Recommended Opportunities in Javelina Scholarships.

Transfer Excellence Scholarship

The Transfer Excellence Scholarship is awarded to current college students that are interested in transferring to Texas A&M University-Kingsville. This scholarship is awarded based on academic merit and may be renewed.

Minimum Requirements

3.0 minimum cumulative transfer GPA

15 or more completed credit hours from a regionally accredited institution

Priority Transfer Admission Date

For prime consideration, students need to be admitted to Texas A&M University-Kingsville by the priority admission date for the semester in which they plan to enroll.
