About the Assistant Vice President of Student Affairs
Kirsten Compary serves as the Assistant Vice President of Student Affairs. She oversees the campus community in the areas of student ombudsman, leadership, welcome week and orientation programs, programming board, community outreach, fraternities and sororities, clubs and organizations, and union operations, student conduct, Student Health and Wellness, and the Office of Campus Sustainability; and oversees contracts with the post office, Aramark Food Services, and Barnes & Noble College. Compary also is responsible for a number of delegated projects, revisions to the student handbook and other student publications, oversees the Honor Code, and coordination of the student awards processes. She also serves as the advisor for the Student Government Association.
Prior to joining A&M-Kingsville, Compary served as the associate dean of students at University of South Dakota where she managed housing and student activities on a campus of 9,600 students. She also served as acting dean of students for two years where she managed vendor partnerships including Aramark and Barnes and Noble. Additional work in higher education was spent working in various positions of housing and residence life.
