Dr. Dianne Brown has been serving Texas A&M University-Kingsville in many capacities since 1986. Prior to becoming assistant vice president for student affairs in July 2010, Brown was involved with various campus initiatives and student organizations and in 1993, she established the peer educator program and health and wellness program. The program combined health care and counseling services under one umbrella—a model that was unique across the nation. Brown also taught both undergraduate and graduate courses and served on dissertation committees.

As assistant vice president, Brown will oversee the Department of  Student Health and Wellness consisting of the health care clinic, counseling services, wellness program and disability resource center. She also will direct the Department of Campus Recreation and Fitness. She has professional affiliations with Texas Counseling Association and American College Health Association and is a licensed professional counselor.

Brown was involved with the curriculum development team for university training for effective alcohol management and served on several national conference planning committees, the editorial advisor board for the Alcohol Issues in Higher Education  publication and was successful in obtaining funding for programs in sexual health, alcohol education and prevention and HIV AIDS education and prevention.

Brown earned her doctoral degree in higher education administration from Texas A&M University, Master of Science degree in psychology and communications from Texas A&I University and Bachelor of Science degree in speech communications from Trinity University.
