The Texas A&M-Kingsville softball team will begin a three-week road trip this week.
The next home game for the Javelinas will not be until Feb 29.
“The biggest thing about [playing on the road] is it’s going to be cold everywhere else,” head coach Blake Miller joked.
The trip begins on Tuesday, Feb. 12, in San Antonio where the Javelinas will face the Incarnate Word Cardinals at 3 p.m.
A&M-Kingsville defeated Incarnate Word, 5-3, two weeks ago as part of the Division II Softball Classic.
The Javelinas enter the road trip with a 5-2 record and are riding a four-game winning streak after sweeping a doubleheader from the Texas A&M-International Dustdevils last Wednesday, Feb. 6.
“It’ll be a good time for our time to bond,” Miller said. “Our team has to learn how to sell out for each other.
Right now, they’re just taking things for granted. It’ll be good for us. It’ll make or break us.”
Saturday through Monday, the Javelinas will play a doubleheader each day in a different city, all against Lone Star Conference North Division opposition.
Saturday they will face the Midwestern State Mustangs in Wichita Falls followed by a Sunday matchup against the Southwestern Oklahoma Bulldogs in Weatherford, Okla.
They finish out the week on Monday with a twin bill against the Cameron Aggies in Lawton, Okla.
