After splitting a road series against the Cameron Aggies this past weekend, the Texas A&M-Kingsville Javelinas still find themselves in the final slot to make the Lone Star Conference postseason tournament with only two series remaining on the conference schedule.
The Hogs are currently 25-22 on the season and 20-16 in the LSC.
The series was as close as it could get with the Aggies only outscoring the Javelinas 13-12 in the four-game set.
The team is currently four games ahead of the seventh place Tarleton State Texans and only half a game behind the fifth place Central Oklahoma Bronchos.
This weekend, the Javelinas will face the Southeastern Oklahoma Savage Storm in their final home series of the season.
Last season, the two teams split a series in Kingsville but the Javelinas got an extra-inning win, 5-4, over the Savage Storm in the LSC Conference Tournament.
The Javelinas outscored the Savage Storm 28-26 in the five games they played during the 2007 season.
Statistically, the Javelinas are ranked eighth in batting with a .320 team batting average.
Joe Hamon leads the team with a .387 batting average, good enough for 14th in the LSC.
On the mound, the Hogs are fourth in the conference with a team ERA of 5.45.
The pitching staff is led by Sam Strickland and his ERA of 2.79.
Strickland ranks third in the conference in the category.
Three Javelina pitchers rank in the top four in the LSC in strikeouts.
Tim Jones leads the team with 69 strikeouts, Strickland has 65 and Josh Livingston is right behind with 63 to rank two, three and four in the LSC.
