Track team heading to Austin to compete in Texas Relays
Meet comes a week before Javelina Open

The Texas A&M-Kingsville track and field team will heading out this weekend, April 3-5, to Austin to compete at the Texas Relays, hosted by the University of Texas.
The team recently competed in the LSU Invitational in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on March 28-29.
Ozzie Garcia had a team-best time of 15.32 seconds in the 110-meter hurdles and a team-best leap of 22-8 in the long jump.
Jimmy Nelson qualified for the finals in the 400 hurdles, finishing fifth with a time of 55.45.
The Javelina track and field team has had several athletes surpass NCAA championship provisional marks this season.
During the last meet of the indoor season a month ago, the Oklahoma Sooner Open, both Tremaine Barefield and Raquel Tidwell surpassed NCAA provisional marks.
Barefield’s came in the triple jump with a season-best jump of 47-2.5.
Tidwell set hers in the 800-meter run with her season-best time of 2:16.69.
On March 14, Garcia competed at the NCAA Division II Track and Field Championships held in Mankato, Minn., competing in the high jump.
With the indoor season now over, the team is focused on outdoor competition.
The team will compete at Javelina Stadium, hosting the Javelina Open on April 12.
The Lone Star Conference Championships will be held May 3-4 in Abilene with Abilene Christian as the host school.
If any Javelina athletes qualify, the NCAA Outdoor Championships are on May 23-25 in Walnut, Calif.
