The Texas A&M-Kingsville Javelina softball team will face their old coach, Jake Schumann, in a doubleheader against the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Islanders on Wednesday, April 2, beginning at 1 p.m.
The Javelinas will then travel to Denton for a weekend series against the Texas Woman’s Pioneers.
The series against the Pioneers will be the first Lone Star Conference South Division game for the Javelinas in more than two weeks.
A&M-Kingsville is currently 1-2 against the Pioneers, losing the last two meetings, in games coming in tournaments earlier in the season.
The Javelinas were outscored 12 runs to nine in those three meetings with the Pioneers.
This past weekend, March 28-30, the Javelinas went 3-4 in the LSC Crossover Tournament in Durant, Okla.
The team is now 19-22 on the season and 5-4 in LSC South games.
The team lost their first three games on Friday, but were able to go 3-1 the rest of the weekend.
The team is currently ranked 12th in the LSC with a .261 batting average and fifth in pitching with a team ERA of 2.82.
Cassie Anderson ranks 11th in hitting the in the conference, hitting at a .378 clip.
On the mound, the Javelinas’ Courtney Rigamonti is ninth in conference standings with an ERA of 2.40.
