Javelina pitcher Josh Livingstion picked up the only one for the Hogs over the weekend. Livingston's 20th career win moved him into third place on the school's all-time wins list. |
The Texas A&M-Kingsville Javelina baseball team saw their six-game winning streak snapped this weekend by Northeastern (Okla.) State, dropping three of four games to the RiverHawks.
The team fell to 20-17 on the season and to 15-13 in the Lone Star Conference with the series loss.
The team will now look to rebound as they head out on a road trip that will keep them away from Nolan Ryan Field for two weeks.
“We just have to learn how to win,” coach Russell Stockton said.
“You can’t make mistakes and win.”
The team will play a non-conference game to start the trip against the St. Mary’s Rattlers on Tuesday, April 1 in San Antonio before starting a LSC series against the Tarleton State Texans in Stephenville over the weekend.
A little over a month ago, the Javelinas beat the Rattlers in Kingsville, 5-2.
Last year in Stephenville, the Javelinas dropped three of four games to the Texans, getting outscored 29 runs to 16.
The team will also play a non-conference game against Incarnate Word on Tuesday, April 8.
The team currently ranks eight in the LSC in batting with a .320 batting average.
Individually, Joe Hamon ranks ninth in the conference in hitting with a .423 average while Taylor Everett is hitting .403 to rank 12th in the LSC.
On the pitching side, the team is fourth in ERA with a 5.26 team earned run average.
Sam Strickland leads the team with a 2.52, ranking him second in the conference.
Josh Livingston is third in the LSC with 55 strikeouts in 52 innings of work.
