The South Texan Online website has been redesigned and updated. Audio and video have now been added so that TAMUK faculty, staff, and students can watch and listen to the latest news locally or around the world.
“ We wanted a multimedia website so that TAMUK students and the Kingsville community could be more attracted to the website,” South Texan Editor Dominique Garcia said. “We wanted to change the way our community reads, listens, and watches news.”
The Press Club and South Texan student newspaper won over 24 awards at TIPA in College Station. The South Texan newspaper received 3rd Place in General Web Site Excellence for a Student Produced Site.
Audio and video is very accessible and has a link to the TAMUK radio station KTAI 91.1 the one. KTAI allows people to listen to campus news in their vehicles, homes, and work.
The South Texan Online website contains everything from the weekly South Texan newspaper, local community news, and world news. The website is constantly being updated with breaking news stories and reports. People can now have sports information at the click of a mouse. The website has links to upcoming events in the art gallery, museum, theatre, and other local events in the event calendar. The Police Blotter has also been added to the online website and shows several crimes reported on campus.
At the moment only a few stories contain audio and video. Audio and video is still new to the South Texan Online website but by the end of the year the South Texan staff expects to add more videos to the stories..
