BACCHUS & GAMMA’S SAFE SPRING BREAK CAMPAIGN
The BACCHUS & GAMMA Peer Education Network recently completed the Safe Spring Break Campaign. This year’s theme was “MAKE THE BREAK! Each year, thousands of students “take the pledge” to be safe and sober. For information on this successful program contact Ms. Selena Ortiz, BACCHUS & GAMMA advisor, x2912 in the Center for Life Services & Wellness.

MCNAIR SCHOLARS PRESENT RESEARCH
Thirteen members of the Texas A&M University-Kingsville McNair Scholars Program recently presented research at the 4th Annual Texas McNair Conference in Denton. The conference gave undergraduate students the opportunity to present their research in front of their peers from across the state. Along with the presentations, students were able to view displays from various graduate schools.

A&M-Kingsville currently has 25 students involved in its McNair Scholars Program. The Ronald McNair program, named after Ronald E. McNair, an astronaut who died in the space shuttle Challenger and who was the second black American to fly in space, offers students exposure to the techniques used in major research programs by allowing them to conduct research under the guidance of graduate mentors from the disciplines in which they hope to pursue graduate study. The program at Texas A&M-Kingsville is made possible through a grant from the U.S. Department of Education.
