About the Dean of Students

Mr. Ureño
Frank Ureño is Dean of Students at A&M-Kingsville. Previously, he served as associate vice president and dean of students and associate vice president for enrollment management at Texas A&M University-Kingsville from May 2001 to February 2006.
Before coming to Texas A&M-Kingsville, Ureño worked as assistant campus director and student development officer for Dona Ana Branch Community College at New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, New Mexico. He served in that position 22 years.
He worked as a social worker for the Hobbs Municipal School District and prior to that taught business education for four years, also in Hobbs.
In Kingsville, Ureño is active in many civic organizations. He is president of the Board of Directors of the Boys and Girls Club of Kingsville, a member of the Kleberg County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and the Kingsville Chamber of Commerce. He is an alumnus of the Leadership Kingsville Class of 1997 and is a member of the Sembradores de Amistad de Kingsville and the Rotary Club of Kingsville.
In Las Cruces, Ureño was a member of the Kiwanis Club of Las Cruces, the Southwest Counseling Center Inc., the Department of Corrections Intensive Supervision Program, the Las Cruces Sister Cities Foundation and the Hispano Chamber of Commerce de Las Cruces.
He is also a member of the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators, the Texas Association of College and University Student Personnel Administrators, the National Association of Campus Card Users, the International Consortium for Education and Economic Development, the American Association for Higher Education, the New Mexico Vocational Association and the New Mexico ACT Advisory Board.
Ureño has published two handbooks, "Vocational Education Keeps America Working: A Handbook of Two-Year Post-Secondary Institutions that Offer Vocational/Technical Programs" and "Career Training Programs in New Mexico: A Handbook of Two-Year Post-Secondary Institutions that Offer Vocational/Technical Programs."
