Lieutenant Colonel Ariel Rodriguez
Professor of Military Science
Lieutenant Colonel Ariel R. Rodriguez is a Distinguished
Military Graduate of the University
of Puerto Rico’s
ROTC Program. His first duty assignments
were as Transportation Officer, Supply Officer, and Executive Officer
in the Supply and Transportation Troop, 3rd Armored Cavalry
Regiment, Fort Bliss,
Texas from 1990 to
1995. He was later reassigned to
the 2nd Forward Support Battalion, 2nd Infantry
Division, Korea, where he
served from 1995 to 1996 as the Forward Battalion Logistics
Officer. Later, he was
transferred to the 565th Maintenance Company, 31st
Air Defense Artillery, Fort Bliss, Texas,
where he served from 1996 to 1998 as a company commander. While assigned to 565th
Maintenance Company, he deployed his company to Saudi Arabia
in support of Operation Defense Freedom. Lieutenant Colonel Rodriguez was next
assigned to the Houston Recruiting Battalion where he served from 1998
to 2000 as the North Recruiting Company Commander. In July 1998, LTC Rodriguez was next
assigned to US Army South, Puerto Rico from 2000 to 2002, where he
served as an assistant to the General Staff for all South
America and Central America Logistical matters. In November 2002, LTC Rodriguez was
selected for the Command and General Staff College Fort Leavenworth,
Kansas. After a year in the
Command and General Staff College, LTC Rodriguez was sent to Fort Hood, Texas
from 2003 to 2007 where he served as the Special Troop Battalion
Executive Officer. While
assigned to Fort Hood, LTC Rodriguez deployed to Operation Iraq Freedom
II from 2004 to 2005 where he served as the assistant to the General
Staff Operations Officer and from 2006 to 2007 where he served as the
direct supervisor to the 3rd Iraq Brigade Border Patrol Logistics
Officers near Syria Border. LTC
Rodriguez assumed command on 30 May 2007 of the Texas
A&M University
in Kingsville and Texas
A&M International
University (Laredo) ROTC Battalion.
His professional military education includes the
Quartermaster Officer Basic and Advance Courses, Quartermaster Air
Rigging Course, Army Recruiting Course, and the Command and Staff
General College. Lieutenant
Colonel Rodriguez earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education from
the University of Puerto Rico in 1990 and a Master of Arts and
Science Degree in Management in 1993 from Webster University
College.
Lieutenant Colonel Rodriguez’s awards and
decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, the Defense Meritorious
Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation
Medal, the Army Achievement medal, the Good Conduct Medal, and
Humanitarian Service Medal. In
addition, LTC Rodriguez has been awarded the US Army Combat Action
Badge, the US Army Airborne Badge, US Army Rigger Badge, and US Army
Recruiting Badge.
