Who's legible to access Campus Recreation and Fitness Facilities?

Currently enrolled TAMUK students and individuals with a SRC membership are eligible to access the facility.

Can Campus Recreation and Fitness Facilities be reserved?

TAMUK departments and approved registered student organizations may reserve the Student
Recreation Center and the Intramural Fields for tournaments and special events. Experienced
facility staff will help groups plan their event by assisting with such details as room layout,
work orders, complying with the SRC guidelines and university rules and regulations.

Is there a fee for student organization to reserve the Student Recreation Center?

There is no fee upfront for registered student organizations unless the event is an Open event.
This means that the event is not only for TAMUK students and/or SRC members. If it is
considered an Open event than there will be a charge to reserve the Student Recreation
Center. Please see Fee Schedule.  However, other charges may be incurred.

How many people can attend an event before UPD Security has to be on site?

If you have a 100 or more attendees then UPD Security will have to attend the event.
The requestor will have to pay for security officer/s.

How can I reserve the Intramural Fields?

The Intramural Fields can be reserved by completing the Facility Reservation Form. You can
come by the Campus Recreation and Fitness Office to pick up a form or you can get it of the website.

The Pool

TAMUK Pool

The Natatorium is located in the Steinke Physical Education Center. It is located on the East Side of the facility. It is used for swimming classes through the kinesiology department and for recreational purposes. Student employees work in the pool area and are certified lifeguards. The pool contains a seven lane, 50 meter, heated lap pool ranging from 4ft. -6ft. depth. There is a diving area with a 1meter board available for use.

The pool is available to students, faculty and staff during recreational pool hours. Swimming suits or swim trunks must be worn. Shirts over swimming gear is not allowed. For more information, please call (361) 593-2009.
