Thomas Hays (chemistry) was awarded $120,000 on behalf of his department from The Welch Foundation for a Chemistry Departmental Research Grant.

Ronald Rosati (agriculture & human sciences) will attend the annual Southern Association of Colleges and Universities (SACS) meeting in Atlanta, Georgia. From there, he will travel to Washington, D.C. to meet with lobbyist Martin Mendoza, Monica Alexander regarding USDA scholarships, Gary McBride regarding the Ag Business Program and with Congressman Hinojosa. Next year, Rosati will be attending the Texas Agriculture Conference in College Station.

Other attendees of the SACS annual meeting in Atlanta, Georgia will include Alberto Olivares (graduate studies) and Dalton Bigbee (academic affairs support services), who will give a presentation at the meeting.

Earlier in the week, Olivares attended the Graduate Education Advisory Committee (GEAC) at the Institute of Texas Cultures in San Antonio. Later in the month, Bigbee will travel to Austin to attend the Texas Association of State Systems for Computing and Communications (TASSCC).

Indra Reddy (pharmacy) is at Hyderabad, India, speaking at the 57th Indian Pharmaceutical Congress conference and, later, at the Health Insurance & Pharmaceutical Services Group.

Frank Ureno (enrollment management, dean of students) traveled to Mexico for recruiting purposes and to McAllen to attend a meeting at South Texas College.
