Dr. William Leckie, former history and government professor, passed away recently. He taught at the university from 1946 through 1969.
The University Police Department entered one of their police vehicles in a design contest at a car show held in Live Oak Aug. 20. This is the second year a UPD unit has been entered in this show. The car placed second. |

Prints of the Time goes back in time to showcase former students' work
In conjunction with Hispanic Heritage Month and the A&I Chicano Activist Colloquium, the art department at Texas A&M University-Kingsville is currently showing Prints of the Time in the Ben Bailey Art Gallery. The exhibit continues through Monday, Oct. 31.

Ranch management tools is subject of KRIRM Symposium
| The King Ranch Institute for Ranch Management at Texas A&M University-Kingsville will host its second symposium Thursday and Friday, Oct. 20-21. This year’s theme is Tools for Ranch Management. Most of the activities will be held at the Caesar Kleberg Wildlife Center. Read more»

Lukefahr visits Vietnam to assist animal scientists
Even though Dr. Steven Lukefahr has spent a lot of time in developing countries, he said he had some reservations before accepting an invitation to Vietnam. One reason for his reservation was because of being an American asked to work in the vicinity of Hanoi. “My father was a Navy pilot during the Vietnam era. He might have conducted missions where I was to visit.” The second reason was because of the Asian bird flu epidemic. Read more»
