Announcements

The Jernigan Library has scheduled workshops for the spring semester. All workshops are held in room 123 in the library. Call the reference desk at 361-593-3319 to reserve a space or for more information. All students, faculty and staff are invited to attend on a first come, first serve basis.

Resources in Kinesiology will be taught twice, from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Monday, March 21, and again from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 23. In this course, students will receive an introduction to search strategies for finding information related to kinesiology.

Introduction to PowerPoint also will be taught in two different sessions, from 3:30 to 5 p.m. March 21 and again from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 22. Students will learn the basics, including how to create a basic presentation, insert pictures and add simple animation.

Introduction to Environmental and Engineering Databases will be taught from 2 to 3:30 p.m. March 22. Students will examine environmental engineering databases and internet sources available at the Jernigan Library.

Learn how to search PubMed for resources in medicine in the Introduction to PubMed class from 7 to 8:30 p.m. also March 22.

A course on Geography and GIS Resources on the Internet will be taught from 3 to 4:30 p.m. March 23. Students will examine geographic and GIS databases and internet sources available at the library.

Two classes are scheduled Thursday, March 24. MLA Documentation Style will be taught from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Students will learn how to properly cite sources used in research using the MLA documentation style. How can Interlibrary Loan Help You with Your Research also will be taught from 5 to 6 p.m. Students will learn how to borrow materials not available at the Jernigan Library.

Students sweep animal science competition

Texas A&M University-Kingsville students recently traveled to Arkansas to compete in the South Section American Society of Animal Science where they broke a regional record by winning the top three spots in the Undergraduate Research Presentation Competition. They also brought home second place in the Graduate Research Presentation Competition. Read more»

Pam Hill, an alumna and lecturer in the psychology and sociology department, is the latest person on the Texas A&M University-Kingsville campus to be named a “bringer of light” by the Servants of Las Luminarias.

Sorority plans candlelight vigil to promote body image, self-esteem

The Delta Phi Epsilon chapter at Texas A&M University-Kingsville will host a candlelight vigil in conjunction with the National Association of Anorexia Nervosa and Associated Disorders (ANAD).
