Bruce W. Taylor, vice president of marketing
for the Council for South Texas Economic Progress, presented $4,500
on behalf of the South Texas Higher Education Foundation to Texas
A&M University-Kingsville recently. Receiving the check was Associate
Vice President of Enrollment Management Frank Ureño; Roel Villarreal,
financial aid director; and Felipe Leal, associate financial aid director.
The money will be awarded on a need basis to students who are not
on scholastic probation and have at least a 2.0 grade point average.
$500 of this money will be designated for the Texas A&M-Kingsville
System Center-Palo Alto.
The Council for South Texas Economic Progress, a funder and servicer
of student loans, is the primary contributor to the foundation. The
South Texas Higher Education Foundation, in its second year of existance,
awarded $300,000 over the last two years to various universities from
San Antonio to the Valley.
"It is our way of giving back to the students," Taylor said. |
