WINTER INTERSESSION COURSES
KINGSVILLE (Oct. 27, 1998) -- Going home to the Coastal Bend for the Christmas holidays? Texas A&M University-Kingsville is offering several winter intersession courses that college students from around the state can take while visiting Mom and Day during the winter break.
Ten undergraduate classes from a variety of disciplines and one education graduate course will be available for students. This is the university's first winter intersession.
"Several universities across the state offer intersession courses with varying degrees of success,"said Dr. Robert Kirby, provost. "We can offer our students an extra course in addition to helping our enrollment for a funding year."
The undergraduate courses will meet Dec. 19, 21-23 and 28-30 and Jan. 4-8. The graduate course meets Dec. 19, 21-23 and 28-31 and Jan. 2.
Undergraduate courses which meet from 8 a.m. to noon include ACCT 2301( Principles of Accounting) in the Business Administration Building; AGSC 1352 (Welding) in the Agriculture Mechanics Building; ECON 2301 (Principles of Economics I) in the Business Administration Building; and PSYC 3315 (Health Psychology) in the Business Administration Building.
Courses held from 1 to 5 p.m. are ARTS 1316 (Drawing I), ARTS 1317 (Drawing II) and
ARTS 4300 (Advanced Drawing); and HIST 4338 (U.S. History Since 1945) in the Business
Administration Building.
CISA 1301 (Personal Computer Applications I) will be taught from 10 a.m. to noon and 1 to 3 p.m. in the Business Administration Building. ENGL 2342 (Readings in Poetry and Novel) will be taught from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Business Administration Building.
One graduate course, EDCG 5341 (Guidance: Advanced Topic Instructional Leadership) will be taught from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 3 p.m. in the Business Administration Building.
Students wishing to take winter intersession courses may register during early spring registration Nov. 9 through Dec. 4.
Late registration is Friday, Dec. 18, with classes starting Saturday, Dec. 19. The last class day for the graduate course is Saturday, Jan. 2. The last day for undergraduate classes is Friday, Jan. 8. All grades are due in the registrar's office at 9 a.m. Monday, Jan. 11.
Students enrolled in other universities will have to go through the admissions process and be accepted by either the institution or the graduate program depending on level of the student. For more information call the admissions office at 512-593-2315.
Classes will be held only if enough students enroll. In addition to the three classroom buildings, the Jernigan Library also will be open during intersession. Other buildings and offices will remain closed during the holiday season.
