TEXAS A&M-KINGSVILLE OFFERS CREDIT COURSES IN ALICE, FALFURRIAS, ROBSTOWN AND VIA CABLE TV

(KINGSVILLE, November 20, 1996)--The Center for Continuing Education at Texas A&M University-Kingsville will offer academic classes for credit in Alice, Falfurrias, Robstown and through cable television during the spring semester beginning in January.

Registration will be held on the following dates in each location. Information may be obtained that day at the site, by calling the number listed for each location, or by calling Continuing Education at 593-2861.

In Alice, registration will be held Tuesday, Nov. 19, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at the Alice High School Library Mall. Some of the courses offered are developmental algebra, college algebra, computer literacy, American history, Mexican American studies, elementary Spanish, government, introduction to psychology, introduction to sociology, and contemporary wellness. All classes will be held at Alice High School. Anyone with questions should contact Peggy Dodd at (512) 664-0981.

Falfurrias registration will be held at Falfurrias Junior High School in Room B1 on Thursday, Nov. 21, from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. American history, structure of the arts, developmental writing, developmental math, world geography, governnment, introduction to psychology, introduction to anthropology and social problems are some of the classes available. All courses will meet at Falfurrias Junior High. Persons with questions can contact Mrs. Byington at (512) 325-5681.

Spring semester continuing education class registration for Robstown will be available from Nov. 11 through Jan.10. by phoning (512) 593-2861. Computer literacy and a computer lab are offered. Courses will be held at the Alternative Learning Center, 408 W. Main, in Robstown, (512) 387-4425.

Instructional television courses, offering teleconferencing connections and flexibility for full-time workers, will be broadcast live through Heartland Wireless Systems and Charter Communications cable systems. Television courses to begin in January are world geography and introduction to psychology. To determine which sites will be available in off-campus viewing areas and to register, contact Cynthia Farias in Continuing Education.
