Krueger wins teaching excellence award from finance group

Dr. Thomas Krueger, finance professor in the College of Business Administration at Texas A&M University-Kingsville, recently was awarded the 2015 Teaching Excellence Award at the Academy of Finance meeting. 

Krueger also is the J.R. Manning Endowed Professor of Innovation in Business Education.

The Academy of Finance is affiliated with MBAA-International, which had multiple divisions in business areas. 

This is the first time Krueger has won this award, although he placed second in 2010. Members can be nominated or self-nominated for the Teaching Excellence Award. Five candidates are chosen to be presenters and then a committee picks the winner after the presentations.

Prior to coming to Kingsville, Krueger taught finance at University of North Carolina at Charlotte and University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. He earned his bachelor’s degree from University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, his master’s degree from Minnesota State University and his doctorate from University of Kentucky.

Krueger has authored over 65 refereed journal publications, including the original research leading to the identification of the famous Super Bowl Stock Market Predictor. His work has been found in renowned publications such as the Journal of Finance, Journal of Accounting and Finance and International Business Research Practices.

Other honors Krueger has received include the Best in Track Award: Financial Services from the Academy of Finance; Distinguished Researcher for the College of Business Administration; Distinguished Paper Award from the Mustang International Academic Conference; Best in Track Award: Investments and Portfolio Management from the Academy of Finance; and Excellence in Teaching Award from the Academy of Finance.
