Texas A&M University-Kingsville has received a $2,700 grant from the Coastal Bend Community Foundation to assist the university as it hosts the 2014 Coastal Bend Regional History Fair.

The History Fair is an annual event run by the staff and volunteers of the John E. Conner Museum and held at the Memorial Student Union Building. The upcoming Fair is scheduled for Saturday, March 1, said Jonathon Plant, museum director.

The History Fair competition is for students in junior high and high school. They have several categories in which they may choose to compete, including performance, documentary, website, paper and exhibit.

The finalists from the Coastal Bend Fair go on to compete at the state level, and finalists at the state level move up to compete at the national level. Plant said last year one of the Coastal Bend finalists made it to the National Fair.
