Gabriel Cruz Named Mr. Texas A&M-Kingsville

Gabriel Cruz, Mr Texas A&M-Kingsville 2003
KINGSVILLE (November 21, 2003) — Gabriel Cruz, a junior communications major from Bishop, was named Mr. Texas A&M University-Kingsville during competition held Thursday, Nov. 20. Cruz will serve as an ambassador for the university and represent the school at functions throughout the year. Mr. A&M-Kingsville will make his first public appearance in the La Posada Parade of Lights on December 6.

Cruz is a writer for the South Texan and he has been involved with volunteer judging for the communications and theatre arts department. He is the son of Jose G. Cruz and Bertha Cruz of Bishop. In addition to a $1,000 scholarship Cruz received his crown, sash and trophy and a watch donated by Pizza Hut.

The first runner up was Tereso Mora, a sophomore civil engineering major from Corpus Christi. Mora received a $500 scholarship. Jon Bargas, a senior from Port Lavaca, was selected second runner up earning a $250 scholarship. His major is criminology and his minor is political science.

David Foor was named third runner up, Mr. Congeniality and Mr. Photogenic. Foor is a junior electrical engineering major from Kingsville. He received a $150 scholarship.

The fourth runner up and winner of a $100 scholarship was Gabriel Ruiz, a junior from San Antonio. His major is theatre arts and his minor is music.
