One of the biggest obstacles preventing
students from seriously considering a study abroad experience is insufficient financial
resources. Many students are not aware of the fact that they can earn TAMUK college
credits for their study abroad experiences and continue to use their current financial aid
allotments. In addition, competitive scholarships are available to TAMUK students through
the Student Exchange Scholarship Fund (SESF) which is administered by this office. These
funds are generated by a $ 3.00 student fee assessed each semester and summer term. Other
funding sources are available through governmental agencies and/or private foundations
e.g. U.S. Department of Education (International Studies and Foreign Language Programs and
International Education and Graduate Programs), Institute of International, Education,
Fulbright Scholarships, Gilman Scholarships, etc. OIP staff are continually searching for other financial
resources to assist students. Contact OIP for the latest information available.
