More than 120 senior students from the Frank H. Dotterweich College of Engineering will participate in the 3rd Senior Design Conference at Texas A&M University-Kingsville from 8 a.m. – noon Friday, April 26, in the campus Engineering Complex.

The conference provides senior students with the opportunity to present their capstone projects and share their research with fellow students, faculty and the community. Students spend their final year of undergraduate studies working on the extensive and thorough project. Projects will reflect the engineering disciplines taught in the Dotterweich College of Engineering, including civil, architectural, environmental, mechanical, chemical and electrical engineering. Project themes include bladeless turbine wind and stream generation, robotics and water treatment plant sludge removal.

Projects are broken down into four categories based on engineering discipline. The top two projects in each category will be awarded cash prizes from $400-$800. The overall best project winner will receive a $2,500.

High schools students from the Science Academy of South Texas in Mercedes will participate in the conference for the first time, presenting their projects along-side the university students. Students from Bishop High School also will attend the conference.

The Senior Design Conference is free and open to the public, but registration is required.  To register or for more information contact the Dotterweich College of Engineering at 361-593-2001.
