Two senior students at Texas A&M University-Kingsville will show off what they have learned as they present their senior one-act plays during the fall semester’s Evening of One-Acts at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, Nov. 14-16, and 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 18. All performances are $5 and will be held in the Little Theatre. Both plays carry a PG-13 rating.

The first play is Pillow Talk, by Peter Tolan. The senior director is Catherine Katie Desiderio from Kingsville. She has been in numerous productions at A&M-Kingsville, including Dead Man’s Cellphone, Boys Next Door, Mama Drama, Tommy, Reindeer Monologues, Daughters, A Tempest and Once upon a Mattress.

In Pillow Talk, two heterosexual men, Aaron and Doug, are forced to share a bedroom and a bed in the mobile home of Aaron’ dotty old grandmother. Hampered by Doug’s phobic fear of physical intimacy, the characters are forced to examine their feelings about friendship and each other. As the battle lines are drawn, they get little sleep and a night full of surprises.

Doug is played by Myles Martinez, a senior theatre major from San Antonio. He has been in The Great Cross Country Race, Boxcar, I Hate Hamlet, Blood Wedding, Boys Next Door and Same as Sarah.

Taking on the part of Aaron is Dan Garza, a sophomore from Kingsville. He has previously been in Same as Sarah.

The second one-act play is ‘dentity Crisis, written by Christopher Durang. It will be directed by senior Vanessa Jurado from Eagle Pass. She has previously been in the casts of A Tempest, Tommy and Silvia and been part of the crew for Boxcar, Las Cartas, Wizard of Oz, I Hate Hamlet, Once upon a Mattress, Bethlehem, Blood Wedding and Same as Sarah

Recovering from a nervous breakdown, Jane is nursed and nagged by her relentlessly cheerful mother, confused by her oversexed brother, and misdirected by her psychologist.  Eventually, all leave her with no identity at all and pointing out the near-impossibility of self-identification in our uncertain times.

Sara Rose Vera, a sophomore communications major from Corpus Christi, will play the role of Jane. She has previously been Blood Wedding, Snow White and Same as Sarah

In the role of Edith is Megan Saenz, a junior theatre arts major from Alice. She has been seen in Bethlehem, Reindeer Monologues, Blood Wedding, Snow White, A Tempest and Same as Sarah

Anya Pena, a sophomore theatre major from Brookshire, will play the part of the Woman. She has performed in Blood Wedding, Sins of Sor Juana and Same as Sarah

The part of Robert will be played by Luis R. Lopez, a junior kinesiology major from Rio Grande City.  He has performed in I Hate Hamlet and The Boys Next Door

Gage A. Roberts will play Summers. He is a freshman theater major from Kingsville. He has appeared in Once upon a Mattress and Same as Sarah

Working behind the scenes for both one-act plays will be Benito Latigo, stage manager; Alex Barona, assistant stage manager; Azalia Ramirez, costumes; Patrick Zeno, crew; Fernando Mercado, lights; and Stacy Saenz, sound design.
