Internet Courses

Welcome

Texas A&M University-Kingsville now offers a variety of web-based distance learning courses. Each semester offers web-based courses in Education, Environmental Engineering, Business with more courses being added each semester. Although these are web-based courses, many of the courses require a mandatory first class meeting.

If a student resides too far from the campus or has extenuating circumstances, the student must contact the instructor prior to this first meeting. The first meeting with the instructor is designed to develop a dialogue between the student and the instructor nurturing a positive experience for each individual enrolled in a TAMUK Internet course.

There are requirements each student must meet before enrolling in an Internet course. Individuals must be admitted into Texas A&M University-Kingsville. To check on the admissions requirements, go to the TAMUK Admissions Website. If you are only enrolling in an Internet course, you may enroll through the Center for Distance Learning & Continuing Education using the online form.

The technical requirements for participating in a web-based course are as follows: 133MHz or higher Pentium PS with at least 16M of RAM and a modem and Internet browser. As a current student of TAMUK, you may wish to obtain access to the Internet by applying for a PPP account with the Computing and Information Services Department. A PPP account will allow you to dial into the University’s server to access the Internet. All long distance charges are the responsibility of the student. Additionally, the account will provide you with an e-mail account on the campus server. Finally, TAMUK offers computer support for Internet students through the CIS Online Help Desk of by calling (361) 593-4357 or you may contact your Internet provider.

Most instructors will not require more than a basic computer system, however you should contact them to make sure if they have any special requirements. If you have any other questions concerning Internet courses, e-mail or call us at the Center.

Note!
It is strongly recommended that you contact the professor assigned to the Internet class in which you wish to enroll. Please search for his/her name and email your interest in registering for the course. You may also click on your instructors name below (where applicable) to send them an email. You will receive a response with the information needed to make your decision. Click here for more contact information.
