Adjacent to University Village, the new dining hall will have the capacity to feed 378 students at one time. It also will have a second floor that will house two conference rooms with an open-air terrace on the roof of the first floor. The nearly 19,000 square foot building has a $5.5 million price tag. It is scheduled to open January 2011.
Once the new dining hall is complete, it will become the main food service venue, complementing services at the Javelina Café and Turner-Bishop Cafeteria for students. The Tejas Room, the current main dining hall for students in the Memorial Student Union Building, will be remodeled as a new game room with retail food service. In addition to the new dining hall and the one in Turner-Bishop, plans are
to re-open the other dining hall located in Martin Hall.
