Description
Standard State: Solid at 298 K
Color: Silvery white metallic
Discovered in 1803 by Wollaston and is found with platinum and other metals of the
platinum group in placer deposits of the U.S.S.R., South and North America, Ethiopia, and
Australia. Its separation from the platinum metals depends upon the type of ore in which it is
found. It is the least dense and has the lowest melting point of the platinum group
of metals.
