Eddie Galvan

Eddie Galvan is a native of Corpus Christi where he attended Miller High School and Del Mar College. Mr. Galvan received his Bachelors and Masters degrees from Texas A&M University-Kingsville, then known as Texas College of Arts and Industries.

Eddie Galvan began his public school teaching career at Premont Jr. High followed with stints at Refugio and Driscoll Jr. High before establishing a distinguished band program at Miller High School. Under his direction, the Miller Band received numerous awards as well as being recognized as one of the premier programs in Texas. Mr. Galvan was appointed Coordinator of Music in 1972 and served as Director of Personnel for Corpus Christi ISD from 1973 - 1985. Eddie Galvan has served as an associate professor at Texas A&M - Corpus Christi and as Dean of Music/Principal at the Treviño Fine Arts High School in Laredo, Texas.

Mr. Galvan is Past President of Texas Bandmasters Association, served as Vice-President of TMEA and has been inducted into the Texas Bandmasters Hall of Fame by Phi Beta Mu. In addition to his years in public school education, Mr. Galvan continues his successful professional career on the saxophone. The Galvan brothers, Eddie and Bobby helped create the Texas Jazz Festival in 1960, which continues each year to attract musicians from across the country to perform in Corpus Christi.
