KINGSVILLE (March 15, 2012) — Texas A&M University-Kingsville will honor three new inductees into its Legacy Society on March 24, 2012 as part of its annual President’s Legacy Ball.  Janell and Stephen “Tio” Kleberg, Jimmy and Carol Geryk and Whataburger Restaurants will be recognized at the annual event, which acknowledges individuals, families, corporations and foundations whose cumulative donations to the university total more than $100,000.  All honorees will receive a plaque that is unveiled at the event and later hung on the University Legacy Wall of Honor.

The President’s Legacy Ball will be held in the Memorial Student Union Building Ballrooms and hosted by the university’s President and First Lady, Dr. Steven Tallant and wife, Karen.  It serves as an opportunity to thank friends and donors of Texas A&M University-Kingsville.  Proceeds from the event go towards student scholarships through the University Scholarship Endowment.  To date more than $250,000 has been raised for scholarships through the event.

This black-tie optional affair begins at 6 p.m. with a cocktail hour and silent auction that will run until 9 p.m.  After remarks from President Steven Tallant and the unveiling of the plaques, a gourmet dinner will be served, followed by dancing and live music by the Glynn Garcia Orchestra.  This year’s event is sold out.  Those interested in being placed on a waiting list for potential seat openings can call (361) 593-4191.

The décor, invitations and other printed materials for this year’s President’s Legacy Ball were inspired by a painting entitled The Doorway, by local artist Dolores Price.
