College Level Examination Program (CLEP)
CLEP is a national testing program of credit by examination by the College Entrance Board that offers you the opportunity to obtain recognition for college level achievement. CLEP exams allow people who have acquired comprehension subject knowledge through independent or prior study, on the- job training, or cultural pursuits to show that they have mastered college-level material.
The CLEP is a computer-based exam and scores will be received as soon as the testing session is completed. The length of exam is approximately 90 minutes. Examinees will receive immediate score reports for all exams except English Composition with Essay. Please consult your advisor for the requested test to verify credit. Official scores will be sent approximately 2 weeks-3 weeks after the test date. CLEP registration can be accepted until the date before the exam pending availability. Examinees must present 2 forms of I.D to be admitted to test. Acceptable forms of I.D. include a state I.D., state issued driver’s license, military I.D., passport, and student I.D.

Our Testing Center administers all the exams except College Composition & College Composition Modular. Currently, TAMUK accepts the following CLEP exams for college credit. ** Please check back for more updates.
- A $21.00 Non-Refundable, Pre-Registration Fee in the form of Cash or Money Order will be required to reserve a seat for the exam. This can also be paid online
- A $80.00 test fee in the form of check/money order made payable to CLEP on testing day.
NOTE: The Academic Testing Center is only responsible for administering the exam. The TC is not responsible for verifying scores. Credit is awarded through appropriate departments. See the current TAMUK catalog. Save time. Save Money. Take CLEP.
How CLEP helps you:
Depending on your college’s CLEP policy, a satisfactory score on each CLEP exam can earn you from 3 to 12 college credits.
The cost of a CLEP exam is $80, a fraction of the tuition and fees for the corresponding course.

CLEP can help you to the finish line if you’re a few credits shy of graduation.
Meet proficiency requirements:
Demonstrate your ability in college math or a foreign language with CLEP.
