College Level Examination Program (CLEP)

CLEP is a national testing program of credit by examination by the College Entrance Board that offers you the opportunity to obtain recognition for college level achievement. CLEP exams allow people who have acquired comprehension subject knowledge through independent or prior study, on the- job training, or cultural pursuits to show that they have mastered college-level material.

The CLEP is a computer-based exam and scores will be received as soon as the testing session is completed. The length of exam is approximately 90 minutes. Examinees will receive immediate score reports for all exams except English Composition with Essay. Please consult your advisor for the requested test to verify credit. Official scores will be sent approximately 2 weeks-3 weeks after the test date. CLEP registration can be accepted until the date before the exam pending availability. Examinees must present 2 forms of I.D to be admitted to test. Acceptable forms of I.D. include a state I.D., state issued driver’s license, military I.D., passport, and student I.D.

Our Testing Center administers all the exams except College Composition & College Composition Modular. Currently, TAMUK accepts the following CLEP exams for college credit. ** Please check back for more updates.

Test Fees

  • A non-refundable administration fee of- $21.00 is required by the Academic Testing Center when scheduling your exam. The fee is payable online 
  • As of January 1, 2014, College Board requires that Test-Takers create a profile and pay the $80.00 exam fee online prior to taking the scheduled CLEP exam at your selected testing center.  Please visit http://clep.collegeboard.org/register/exam and click on My Account to create a profile and pay the exam fee.  Please bring the registration ticket with you the day of the exam.
