The John E. Conner Museum is devoted to saving the artifacts and specimens which describe the region and exhibiting and explaining the South Texas locale’s history and natural history. The Museum displays in permanent exhibits the ecosystems of the Tamaulipan Biotic province, Pleistocene fauna of prehistoric South Texas, and historical vignettes from the history of the region. Named for the original history professor of the South Texas State Teachers College, which has become Texas A&M University-Kingsville, Mr. Conner initiated the Museum’s collections that have expanded to over 10,000 items. The Museum is a regional museum open six days a week, providing educational and community resources for the preservation of our past. It also hosts a vigorous program of traveling exhibits to bring a wide variety of cultural and educational experience to the university and community.
