About the Associate Provost and Chief Information Officer


Dr. Diersing

Dr. Robert J. Diersing began serving as Associate Provost for Information Technology and Chief Information Officer on June 1, 2007.  He previously served as dean of the College of Business Administration from 2000 to 2007 and was interim senior vice president and provost during 2001-02.  He also spent three years as chair of the accounting and computer information systems department.

Diersing received his Ph.D. in computer science, with a supporting field of higher education administration, from Texas A&M University in 1991.  He received his master’s degree in business administration from Corpus Christi State University in 1983, his Master of Science degree in computer science from Texas A&I University in 1974, and his Bachelor of Business Administration in electronic data processing from Texas A&I University in 1972.

Prior to coming to Texas A&M-Kingsville, Diersing was at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, where he was a research associate with the Conrad Blucher Institute for Surveying & Science from 1987-1990, an adjunct, assistant and associate computer science professor from 1980-1988, and director of computer services from 1975-1981.

Diersing has served as a consultant and software developer for a number of organizations including: the Radio Amateur Satellite Corporation (AMSAT), Jordan Laboratories, SpaceQuest, Inc., and Colorado Satellite Services.  He has worked on the ECHO (AMSAT), MOST (University of Toronto Institute for Aerospace Studies, FalconSat-1 (U.S. Air Force Academy) micro-satellite projects as well as other low-earth-orbit satellite projects.

He is a member of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Phi Delta Kappa and Rotary International.
