Academic Success

Supplemental Instruction

The mission of Supplemental Instruction (SI) is to improve student retention and academic achievement by organizing dynamic and interactive peer-facilitated study sessions paired with traditionally difficult courses. The SI program at Texas A&M University-Kingsville provides learning tools to improve understanding of subject content, foster critical thinking and to encourage lifelong learning and professional student success.

The Center for Student Success offers Tutoring and Supplemental Instruction as support services designed to help students achieve academic success.

Tutoring assists students by providing one-on-one, need-specific academic help. Tutoring sessions, by appointment, are recommended although walk-in requests are available.

Supplemental Instruction (SI) assists students by providing regularly scheduled, out-of-class study sessions. SI sessions are open to all class members and welcome all students in the course. Sessions focus on content and learning/study skills strategies. Consult the SI leader in your class to find out when sessions are offered.
