Gear Up
About
The GEAR UP (Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs) is designed to increase the number of low income students who are prepared to enter and succeed in postsecondary education. GEAR UP provides six year grants to states and partnerships to provide services at high poverty middle and high schools. GEAR UP grantees serve an entire cohort of students beginning no later than the seventh grade and follow the cohort through high school. Currently, GEAR UP is serving class of 2020 and 2021 at the following three schools: Mary Carroll High School, H.M. King High School, and Roy Miller High School.

Mission Statement
GEAR UP is designed to create a college and career readiness environment for students and family members of our serviced schools with the goal to increase the number of students who graduate from high school prepared to succeed in college and the workforce and is dedicated to increase educational expectation for students while increase student and family knowledge of post-secondary education options, preparations, and finance focusing on students from undeserved communities who may be the first person in their families to enter and succeed in graduating high school and/or succeeding in graduating high school and/or succeeding in post-secondary education and is committed to providing a quality education for all serviced students to enable them to achieve their highest potential.
