Medical Portal


The medical portal is an online system that allows communication between the Health Care Clinic staff and TAMUK patients. The portal utilizes your TAMUK email address for services. Personal email addresses cannot be utilized by our system. Currently enrolled students may access the portal at https://medicalportal.tamuk.edu/. You must use your TAMUK SSO username and password to access the system.

Please read and follow the directions below in order to utilize the portal. Specific directions can also be found on the portal. If you send a message through the portal and you do not receive an answer within 24 business hours (messages will not be answered after 5 pm and on weekends or holidays), then you should call 361-593-3196. If you do not get a response, then call 361-593-3991 and ask to speak with a supervisor. Please do not send messages regarding emergencies or potential emergencies through the portal.

To read a message sent to you by a clinic staff member:

  1. You will receive an email from the clinic staff notifying you that you have received a message.
  2. Go to the Medical Portal and sign in.
  3. Click on the Messages tab.
  4. A list of messages will appear. Look for the appropriate message.
  5. Click read.

To send a message to the clinic staff:

  1. Go to the Medical Portal and sign in.
  2. Click on the Messages tab.
  3. Click on New Message.
  4. Click on the radio button that reads: I want to send a message or attachment to the Nurse.
  5. Under Compose New Secure Message Subject, type a very brief reason for the message (1-2 words).
  6. Under Compose New Secure Message, type in your message. If you need your message to go to a specific staff member, please note this here.
  7. Click send.

To download a form from the portal:

  1. Go to the Medical Portal and sign in.
  2. Click on the Downloadable Forms tab.
  3. Find the form you need.
  4. Download the form and save it to your PDF reader. 

To upload and return a form to the clinic staff:

Note: Please do not use the Upload Form button to return the form to the clinic staff. The upload button does not flag your chart as having a returned form and the clinic staff will not receive your form.

  1. Fill in the downloadable form using your PDF reader.
  2. Save your completed form to your PDF reader.
  3. Go to the Medical Portal and sign in.
  4. Click on the Messages tab.
  5. Click on New Message.
  6. Click on the radio button that reads: I want to send a message or attachment to the Nurse.
  7. Under Compose New Secure Message Subject, type in the name of the form you are returning.
  8. Under Compose New Secure Message, attach your document.
  9. Click send.

To enter a video visit through Zoom:

  1. You may sign in 30 minutes prior to a visit.
  2. Go to the Medical Portal and sign in.
  3. Click on the Appointments tab.
  4. Select Appointment Check-In for the appropriate appointment.
  5. Answer the questions to update your medical information.
  6. Once you complete the questions and sign in, an email will be automatically be sent to your provider. When the provider is ready to see you, the provider will let you into the visit.
