Francisco Cano, born in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico, has been teaching jazz piano at Texas A&M-Kingsville since the Fall 2016. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Music Education and Music performance from Texas A&M-Kingsville, and the Master’s degree in Jazz Studies from Texas State University. His principal teachers include Dr. Joachim Reinhuber (TAMUK), and Mr. Hank Hehmsoth (TXState Univ).
He has performed with the TAMUK Jazz Band I, II, and III on piano and bass, Jazzbones, Choir, Chamber Singers, and Wind Symphony. Also has performed with Texas State University ensembles such as Jazz Ensemble, Jazzbones, Salsa del Rio, and Orquesta del Rio. He has served as a musical theater director at the Corpus Christi Playhouse and taught choir in a private middle and high school in the Corpus Christi area. Currently he is a freelance on piano and bass with salsa, jazz, rock, pop bands, and accompanist for choirs in the Austin/San Antonio area.
