During my time at UTSA I was also a Graduate Student myself working towards earning a Master of Public Administration degree. My exit research paper focused on barriers students face in earning a college degree. A newfound passion was born! Though my initial intentions were to return to the non-profit sector after earning my graduate degree I knew that working with college students is where I needed and wanted to be professionally! Moreover, I work daily with students to remove barriers or perceived barriers and help them reach Graduation Day! I love what I do and the intrinsic rewards that come from a career in Higher Education!

I became an Academic Advisor because...Honestly, I didn’t go into higher education advising because college was a breeze...truth is, I struggled at first. So, I know firsthand that with patience, hard work and determination, you can not only earn a degree but flourish as a person. I want everyone to experience the possibilities that college has to offer. There is nothing like the dynamic, almost kinetic energy you feel on a college campus that comes from the exchange of cultures and ideas as well as the amazing opportunities that students experience and those who are fortune enough to work on a college campus get to share in students’ accomplishments and help them overcome obstacles.
