Scholars Spotlight

John Garcia, McNair Scholar and December, 2013 graduate has completed his first year law school at Texas Tech University.  He was elected president of the law school organization.

Nicholas Salyer, a May, 2016 graduate, received the Outstanding Student Award for the Honor's College and received the Javelina Alumni Association's Class Ring at the May, 2016 commencement.  He has been accepted into Florida State University to work on his Ph.D. in Biomathematics.

Matthew Garberding, an August 2016 graduate, received the Outstanding Student Award for the College of Engineering and received the Alumni Association's Class Ring at the August, 2016 commencement.  Matthew has been accepted into the University of Nebraska to work on his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering.

Jorge Torres, Architectural Engineer major, along with Engineering faculty Prof. James Glusing were featured on KIII-TV Corpus Christi News in July, 2015 with a project titled “TAMUK Students Give Back Through Special Projects”.

Lauren Balderas, McNair Scholar, Biomedical Sciences major and May, 2014 graduate earned a second bachelors degree in Veterinary Technology at TAMUK in May 2016 and has been accepted to Texas A&M University’s Veterinary Medicine program for fall 2016.
