Graduating Students

Congratulations! As you enter your final semester at Texas A&M University-Kingsville, there are several important dates and details about graduation you will want to know. For more information please review the following:

Steps for Completion of Graduation 

Step 1.  Meet with your Academic Advisor (Undergraduates) or Graduate Coordinator (Graduates/Doctoral).

To ensure your success in meeting graduation requirements, you must meet with your advisor PRIOR to applying for graduation. If you are receiving two degrees from two different colleges, you must meet with both advisors. 

Step 2.  Application for Graduation

After meeting with your Senior Advisor/Graduate Coordinator, you may do the Online Application for Graduation. (Guide located here.)

Step 3.  Review Information

Review the information on your application regarding commencement.  If your name is incorrect, please contact the Office of the Registrar prior to the deadline for submission of Name Change as noted on the University Academic Calendar.  If your major, minor, and/or concentration are incorrect, please contact your Advisor.  If your mailing address needs to be updated, it can be updated via Blue and Gold Connection.  Once logged in Blue and Gold select "Personal Information" on the menu option and then select "Update Address and Phone Number".

Graduates and Guests

We are so proud to host this special occasion of your graduation which will take place in the Steinke Physical Education Center on Friday August 11, 2017.  This map indicates the preferred areas for parking on the day of the Commencement exercises.

Graduates: Candidates will assemble in the Steinke Physical Education Center(SPEC) ONE hour prior to graduation, Friday August 11, 2017. There will be NO university-wide rehearsal. Check with your respective college to determine if a rehearsal is planned.

Graduating with Honors (For Undergraduate Degrees only) - Grade point averages are not rounded up to achieve these figures. 

Most colleges offer high honors based on achievement to students graduating within the top percent of their class. This distinction will set outstanding scholastically students apart from the rest of their class. 

  • A grade point average of 3.8 is the minimum for graduation Summa Cum Laude (with highest honors)
  • A grade point average of 3.6 or higher but less than 3.8 will merit Magna Cum Laude (with high honors)
  • A grade point average of 3.4 or higher but less than 3.6 will merit Cum Laude (with honors) 

Students who have transferred work from other colleges or universities are eligible for graduation with honors provided they have completed at least 45 semester hours of work toward their degree at this university. Only the record from Texas A&M University - Kingsville will be used to determine eligibility for graduation with honors.

Tuition Rebate

A tuition rebate from the State of Texas is offered to qualifying students who graduate from Texas A&M University-Kingsville with a bachelor's degree and no more than 3 hours over the minimum number of hours required for the degree. For additional information and forms Click Here. 

Diploma Information 

Candidates for graduation must complete a graduation application through Blue and Gold Connection to receive a diploma.
