Occasionally, work done through grants leads to patents and commercial potential. Those researchers work through the Office of Technology Commercialization in order to realize the full potential of their discovery. The policy framework that governs this process can be found at this link.
In order to begin processing copyrightable work or start the patent process. the researcher must complete a Disclosure to the OTC. This helps documents the circumstances under which the researcher's work occurred. Other forms are needed, depending on the research. These can be found at these links:
