Associate Vice President for Research
& Dean of Graduate Studies

Dr. Abdelrahman is currently the Interim Associate Vice President for Research and Graduate Studies and Associate Dean in the Frank H. Dotterweich College of Engineering at Texas A&M University-Kingsville. As part of his current responsibilities, he oversees activities in the College of Graduate Studies and is the chief research officer on campus. Dr. Abdelrahman holds BS and MS degrees in Electrical Engineering and Engineering Physics from Cairo University. He also holds MS and Ph.D. degrees in Measurement and Control and Nuclear Engineering from Idaho State University. Dr. Abdelrahman has been with Texas A&M University-Kingsville since August, 2010. Prior to this appointment he was a member of the faculty at Tennessee Technological University. During his career, Dr. Abdelrahman's research focus has been on industrial applications of sensing and control. He has been the Principal and co-Principal Investigator of over 5 Million dollars of funding from the US Department of Energy, National Science Foundation and private Industry.

Dr. Abdelrahman is passionate about the role of graduate education and research in society. He let various outreach activities for popularizing engineering research and education through collaborative and innovative educational research projects. His activities in that arena included NSF funded sites for research experience for undergraduates and research experience for Teachers at Texas A&M University Kingsville and Tennessee Technological University.

Dr. Abdelrahman supervised 2 Ph.D. and over 20 MS students. He has published his research results in more than 90 papers in refereed journals and conference proceedings and 30+ technical reports. He was a keynote speaker in several international conferences and workshops and a Fulbright scholar to the State of Qatar in 2007.
