Important Notice to Faculty and PIs

In an effort to continue to serve all faculty and staff by providing an exceptional level of customer service and ensuring a high quality review of proposal submissions, the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (ORSP) is restructuring and enforcing new proposal submission policies.

ORSP will be implementing two new processes effective immediately:

  1. ORSP must receive a notification of intent to submit a proposal 10 working days prior (or earlier) to the submission deadline date along with other pertinent information to include, but not limited to:
    • Sponsor’s Name
    • Funding Opportunity Announcement (guidelines)
    • Proposal Title
    • Brief Abstract (one paragraph, but no more than one page)
    • Co-Investigators names and contact information
    • Outside collaborators (subcontractors’ information and budget)
    • A written memo signed by the Departmental Chair/Dean will have to be submitted to if a notification of intent to submit a proposal is not received within 10 days of the deadline
  2. The Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (ORSP) will require that fully completed proposals must be received by ORSP at least 5 working days prior to the submission due date. The approved and signed Institutional Authorization Form and any other necessary forms (cost- sharing, etc.) must also be submitted at the same time along with the proposal. These forms can be found on the ORSP website ( These processes must be followed in order to allow for a full in-depth review by the ORSP Pre-award staff and the Executive Director and Institutional Authorized Representative.

Please keep in mind that NO proposal will be submitted without the review and approval from the Executive Director.
