Physical Characteristics

Average adult size is 20-48 inches (51-121 cm). A dark-colored, heavy-bodied snake.

Geographic Range (South America)

Colombia, and sothwestern Venezuela

Habitat:

These snakes prefer tropical rainforest and evergreen forest, but it can also be found in drier areas of tropical deciduous forest, rivers and streams.

Diet:

Fish, frogs, snakes, lizards, birds, and small mammals.

Venom:

Hemorrhagic Venom

Remarks:

These snakes normally are nocturnal, but are found on occasion during the daytime. They are also very passive and avoid contact.
